I'm a beginner of the biginners
Hi, I'm a Japanese woman who likes Enrique Iglesias. I like his songs but I've avoided his Spanish songs because I can't understand them. But when I heard his song CUANDO ME ENAMORO I couldn't stop crying though I didn't know the meaning of the song. I really understand Spanish because there are a lot of good songs in Spanish that's why I'm here. What should I do first? I'm already over forty so I must be a slow learner.

Welcome to the forums!
There is no "fast" or "slow" learners. Just exercise what you know and you'll be on your way. That is:
You know how to read and write in your language and in English and you know how to express yourself in both of those languages.
All you have to do now is to get the "equivalence" of what you already know to Spanish.
That means you have to practice Spanish reading and writing a lot, and that you can accomplish by transcribing a novel or newspaper articles from Spanish to Spanish. Even if you don't know/understand the meaning of what you are writing. That understanding will come when you translate what you wrote in Spanish to either English or Japanese with the aid of a bilingual dictionary and after composing the phrase to "correct" English or Japanese is that you are going to be able to acquire the new language.

Hello Tonko and welcome to the Spanish Dict forum
Please don't assume that you will be a slow learner when learning Spanish, or anything else, just because you are over 40. Age is not always a reliable indicator of learning ability since everyone learns at their own pace, so what is ''fast'' or ''slow'' is very subjective and varies considerably between individuals.
I would encourage you to begin learning using the Spanish lessons created by our online, qualified Spanish teacher Paralee Whitmire. Everything here at Spanish Dict is absolutely FREE and that includes the Spanish teaching videos, Each of these lessons lasts about 15 minutes and becomes progressively more difficult but don't worry about that because they build on teaching given in previous videos !
I will give you the direct link to the lessons and hope that you will enjoy learning.
Please follow this link to the first set of teaching videos: Spanish 1
By the way, understanding any language sung or written in a poetical style is more difficult than normal everydayspeech because it uses idioms and expressions that many people may not have come across/encountered yet. It takes years of practice to master any language.
I hope this helps
