Why rebajar? I thought using RE was considered bad form, is this badly formed VS No voy a bajarme a tu nivel? Or is rebajar more like reducir? Gracia.

"Bajar" and "rebajar" are different things. "Bajar" means going to a lower position, but not necessarily a worse one. "Rebajar" uses the intensive/repetitive preffix re-, and it means things like "reduce", "lower even more", and in its pronominal form, to humble/humiliate/lower oneself. "Bajar a tu nivel" is fine if you take the stairs and go down to a lower floor.

Oh so you can never use bajar unless you are physically going down?

Mmmm... you can "bajar los impuestos / la temperatura / el volumen / ...."

Only rebajar, for lowering something non physical?

I would sat that "rebajar" is more for lowering something that is already low (hence that humbling oneself).

Let me give it some further thoughts (and hopefully, someone else's insights).

Come on, man, it's the same as the difference between duce and reduce!

(Just kidding grin)

Seems like

Physical object - bajar

Non physical object - rebajar

Gracias amigo.
