**Work must be done by yourself. This thread is about YOUR ability not the ability of the translator. wink**

Post your sentences in Spanish and English, then vote for the ones you like. The best answer will be chosen tomorrow on the basis of the greatest number of votes and language correctness.

These threads are kindly moderated by Gintar77. Please correct your posts according to Gintar77’s indications and suggestions smile.

Posts which will not be corrected or accepted:
• Captions with 3 words or less
• Paragraphs with more than 4 lines
• Posts which cannot be understood it is read three or four times
• Posts which consist mainly of lyrics or idioms which do not translate.
• Captions copied directly from books or other sources.
• Multiple posts from one person, or those who don't write the sentences in both English and Spanish.
• Remember to use the Word of the Day in a typical Spanish sentence. This is great practice for you and for everyone that reads the thread to see how the Word of the Day could be used in a sentence.

Remember to correct your posts as suggested or they can NOT be "accepted".
Do not use subject pronouns in Spanish. (You'll be sent to the dunce corner!)
Please refrain from overloading with graphic content (ie; bold smileys, etc). It makes it harder for the correctors to be able to read your posts…. )

My Example:

Podría unirme a una banda, pero cada vez que canto, mis perros comienzan a aullar.

I could join a band, but every time I sing, my dogs start to howl.

Esta banda no me permitía que voy a pasear a mi perro en su barrio. No lo comprendo porque siempre recojo detrás de mi perro . . . . . . .

This gang didn't allow me to go for a walk with my dog in their neighbourhood. I don’t understand, because I always scoop up after my dog . . . . . . . .

No debo de haber nacido siquiera cuando esa banda empezó.

I mustn't have even been born when this band started out.

No debo de haber ni siquiera nacido... Good job! - gintar77, Aug 16, 2011
I would say "No debo haber siquiera nacido" the word "ni" is not necessary. Good post! - Animalescus, Aug 16, 2011
Are you sure about that Animalescus? In any case, it should be "debo de". Deber + infinitive indicates obligation. Deber de + infinitive indicates probability. - gintar77, Aug 16, 2011
@Billy- How could she miss anything, they are still around now- they like -won't go away;( - Yeser007, Aug 16, 2011
Parece que no tienen muchos aficionados . . . . :) - Ingeteacher, Aug 17, 2011

Aunque los Shih Tzu son mostrado se muestran con el banda mantener un copete un moño y una banda, no voy a hacer eso no se lo haré a mis perros.

Although Shih Tzu are shown with hairbands to hold a top knot, I will not do that to my dogs.

I'm not sure that the band itself is called a top knot, more like the hairstyle? - gintar77, Aug 16, 2011
Perhaps .."Aunque los Shih Tzu se muestran con un moño y una banda, no se lo haré a mis perros." - gintar77, Aug 16, 2011
Gillygaloo, good for you! I'm not into doing things like that to my dog either. - Yeser007, Aug 16, 2011
Gintar.. the band is used to hold the top knot... so, my statement isn't exactly accurate I guess. - Gillygaloo, Aug 16, 2011
I'll change it to "with hairbands to hold a top knot" The bow you mentioned is just the froo froo part of the band. ;-) - Gillygaloo, Aug 16, 2011
Gillygaloo, by "moño" I meant the actual hair part, not a bow. - gintar77, Aug 16, 2011
The "banda" holds up the "moño". - gintar77, Aug 16, 2011
Me parece la decisión correcta, Gilly . . . . :) - Ingeteacher, Aug 17, 2011
I'm sorry, but I thought that "I will not do" is translated as "no voy a hacer" that isn't correct? Thanks for all your help. - Gillygaloo, Aug 17, 2011
No voy a hacer is I'm not going to do....haré is I will not do.... :) - 001a2987, Aug 17, 2011

Este tipo nos volvía locos, por eso nos formamos una banda y le dimos una paliza.

This guy has been driving us crazy, so we formed a gang and beat the hell out of him.

If you want your English to match the Spanish, you should say "This guy was driving us crazy". - gintar77, Aug 16, 2011
You're right, Gintar, he's the indirect object here. Thanks - SpanishPal, Aug 16, 2011

Hay bastante tráfico que para (¿o cuando?) la hora que llego, la banda ya habrá parado la música. Hay tanto tráfico que a la hora que llegue, la banda ya habrá terminado de tocar

There is so much traffic that by the time I get there, the band will have already stopped playing.
