This is one of my Spanish language activities and I thought I'd share the idea with everyone.

MMORPG sometimes shortened to MMO's stand for Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game Wiki-article

One example that many people know is World of Warcraft. MMO's are interactive either through text chat, or voice chat.

Anyway, I play one (that uses text chat) that has a server in Spanish and play on that server (as well as the English language one). When I started I had to tell people that I was learning Spanish. Currently I rarely need to. Players are delighted to help with language.

I have a lot of fun with it. The only disadvantage is that there is a lot of "chat speak" such as q or k for qué, and generally abominable spelling.

Thanks for sharing! I used to play World of Warcraft (although I quit after the newest expansion) and I did exactly the same thing. My character on the Spanish server was actually a higher level than my original character on the English server hehe.

It is a great way to practice Spanish. The only disadvantages are as you said the "chat speak" and that you don't really get to practice listening and speaking (its mostly text chat).

It's kinda funny though because a lot of the vocabulary you learn (think medieval weapons, armor, and magic spells haha) is stuff you'll probably never use outside the game.

Puzzle Pirates, I'll check it out. I've seen some that were text only "MUD's" I think they were called, but they were pretty boring. Making my pirate right now.

Edit: I guess vello facial is facial hair, I hadn't heard that before. So I already learned something cool.

Edit: Ok I don't understand how to play. It says "Click on my home" but it doesn't say my home anywhere and I can't figure out how to get started.

Edit: Ok this is pretty complicated man, you can't just set on in a ship onto the Jade sea it seems. Do I have to work to make some money and find a crew or something? Wow. I'm not sure what to do, never played a MMO thing before. Maybe I'll look it up later if I have time. My name is BlancoShanko.

yes, it takes time and a lot of patience to build a pirate. You need to learn all the games first - elainepnj, Aug 16, 2011

what one do you play if you don't mind me asking?

I wasn't going to say, because I'm a bit embarrassed. red face Oh, well, I'll get over it. Players of "real" MMO's scoff at it. It's Puzzle Pirates. The Spanish speaking "ocean" is the Jade ocean.
