"Menos mal que"
What does this expression mean? Cannot find it in the diccionario!

It is like "Thanks God that..." (but without "God" in it) or "It's a good job that..."
Thank goodness that ... or Good thing that ...
The outdoor wedding was beautiful. Good thing (that) it didn't rain!
La boda al aire libre estuvo bella. ¡Menos mal que no llovió!
more context would be helpful....but im assuming something along the lines of:
the lesser of two evils,
less bad than (whatever the alturnative is)
