While going through customs in Vera Cruz, Mexico, the officer asked me to explain my answer on the customs form in the occupation field! I tried to explain with "trabajo en la casa", but wondered if there is a word with clearer meaning!

You must be an "ama de casa" or a "dueña de casa". 
Hopefully you aren't a desperate one!

There were a bunch of random ladies for "dueña de casa", so I personally think you should say "ama de casa".
