Tam- acronym for what?

If someone writes "tam" at the end of a message, what could it mean? Te amo mucho or te aprecio mucho? Tam seams to be some kind of acronym...

Unless it's a romantic interest, T A M wouldn't be used...generally, it's T Q M, which means "te quiero mucho."

Elaine, that's bull poo poo.

We, between us girlfriends and with non-romantic family members, use "te quiero" every single day.

It's only when you say "te quiero" with your tone of voice and facial expressions hinting at something sexual would someone suspect that you "want them." You'd have to make it really clear that it's sexual and not just every day speech.

"Te amo" is generally reserved for romantic partners, and in fact, I think it may be a bit poetic/theatrical even for them.

Thanks. I really wanted the last word on this subject, because it does make beginners tip-toe around a bit. - territurtle, Aug 12, 2011

Hey, didn't we just have a thread on that "bull poo poo"? You should be able to write it in Spanish now. - 0074b507, Aug 15, 2011

Wouldn't te quiero mucho be just (f not more) romantic. I want/love you a lot? One teacher I had made sure we learned to say quiero qué tú hacer algo so that there wouldn't be a misunderstanding with te quiero which he said meant I want you (romantically/sexually).

No, I doubt that the teacher said "quiero que tú hacer algo." Perhaps "quiero que tú hagas algo" - 0074b507, Aug 15, 2011
