Perrito can mean puppy too not just small dog right?

So Perrito and cachorro both can mean puppy but perrito can also mean little dog but cachorro can't, or am I wrong in thinking that perrito can be puppy?

Gracias.

Cachorro can mean "puppy" but it can also mean "cub", as in lion/tiger/bear cub.

So to sum it up: perrito - small dog (even if it's only small in your eyes) - cachorro - pup, cub. - Gekkosan, Aug 11, 2011
And that small dog can be a puppy - jeezzle, Aug 11, 2011

AS gintar77 said, "perrito" means "little dog", whether it is a puppy or a small size dog (even if it is extremely old), while "cachorro" refers to a very young mammal, including human babies. Their meanings clearly overlap a lot with puppies, but they are not identical.

My Colombian friends had a litter of Rottweilers a few weeks ago, they referred to them from the 'get go' as 'perritos'.
