Can you suggest some great music?
The hardest part of learning spanish, for me, is catching every spoken word. I feel like i'm always trying to catch up because natives speak so quickly! I love listening to music and find it is helping turn on my "spanish ears" It is also adding to my vocabulary. I stumbled across Julieta Venegas and fell in love with her voice
If you know of anyone with a similar style please let me know. Thanks ![]()

Hola! I love "Niña Bonita" by Chino y Nacho. I dare you to not start dancing while listening to it!
And then "Colgando en Tus Manos". This song is...beautiful.
O H M Y G O O D N E S S - "Loca" by Shakira...it's amazing! In English, it's very upbeat. In Spanish, she sings so quickly, Dios mío, it's ridiculous. "Loca" is very contemporary. Loca - Spanish Version
Another Shakira song is "Waka Waka". Waka Waka - Spanish Have you heard Rabiosa by Shakira? (I like the English version better because I like Pitbull
)
Also, if you like Selena Gomez, this is her song "Who Says" in Spanish...Dices - Selena Gomez
Julieta Venegas is really talented! I like "Andar Conmigo".
Here is a very eclectic selection of music that is friggin awesome in my opinion
. If you like any of these you can always seek similar music on the "suggestion" bar to the right. There simply isn't enough space or time for me to list all the great music in Spanish ![]()
Monchi y Alexandra - Vuela Vuela (Bachata de colombia)
Gondwana - El Sentimiento Original (Reggae de Chile)
Prince Royce - Corazon Sin Cara (Bachata de EEUU)
Los Enanitos Verdes - Lamento Boliviano (Calssic Rock from Argentina)
I find sometimes songs that I already know in english are easier to understand in spanish, Irreplacible by Beyonce is in Spanish, and if you google your favorite artists there are many covers in spanish done by either themselves or spanish artists. Selena Selena Quintanillawill always have a special place in my heart and as lots of 'spanglish' songs, part spanish part english, as well as full spanish songs. Also if you are not turned off by religion, youtube spanish worship songs and you will get LOTS of slower songs (many with the lyrics). When I was first learning spanish the worship songs at church were very very very helpful because i could see the words as i heard them and could look up words i didnt know in the dictionary right then, it also helped in recognizing tenses and sentence structure as a beginner.
Maná es mui bien e Linda Ronstadt's "Canciones de mi Padre" e "Mas Canciones".
I am going to try what you said you do to speak and learn Spanish better.. Listing to Spanish artists.. although i cant suggest any Spanish music..
If you are looking for some great music try "Mumford & Sons" its a British Band.Nothing Spanish about them but Nevertheless they are amazing. Thanks for the Idea.
I'm not sure of the style of the artist you named, but here are a few songs that I like.
Ricky Martin ft. Natalie Jimenez - Lo Mejor De Mi Vida Eres Tú
Ricky Martin - Livin' La Vida Loca (en español)
Enrique Iglesias - Dímelo
Enrique Iglesias - No Me Digas Que No
Shakira ft. El Cata - Loca
Shakira ft. El Cata - Rabiosa
I know many more, but they are hip-hop, and I'm guessing the artist you named is not.
Good luck.
Try to get the idea and not every word. It's not easy in the beginning.
This music motivates me to learn, but don't worry, her accent isn't easy. Give it a chance. It'll grow on you. These are my favourites.
As with Lish2011, above, I am just discovering Latino music myself. There are a few singers and bands I really like, but I definitely encourage you to check out songs by Mana. They are incredible. One of my favorite songs is "En el mulle de san blas."
San Blas Song with lyrics on You Tube:
I am learning Spanish as well and I have discovered Joey Montana...I really like him..
Another song I like is Entre mi vida by Sin Banderas...I think it is an older song but it is slower tempo and the words are realtively easier to catch....HTH
