"Chicken Breast"

I made my best attempt to convey what I was going to make for dinner." Pecho de pollo". Laughter, followed by more laughter. What is the right way to say this ? I know that it's not "chicken chest" which is what I think I said ,however I didn't know any better. It is kind of funny, but I want to be correct next time.

Exactly, although "pecho de pollo" does sound really funny - 005faa61, Aug 10, 2011

Well, anatomically speaking, I don't ever remember seeing or reading about any breasts on a chicken, or any other bird for that matter... so pecho would be more accurate, in my opinion... but alas, we are stuck with "chicken breast" having it drilled into our minds for all these years... everyone knows chicks don't suckle and breasts are more a mammalian attribute.... raspberry

That's one hot chick. ;) - GuitarWarrior, Aug 10, 2011
Except that "breast" doesn't just mean "mammary glands", otherwise the breast stroke in swimming would have a very strange connotation. - gintar77, Aug 10, 2011
Reminds me of bad joke, the punchline of which was "no fair, they used their arms!" - DR1960, Aug 11, 2011
Perhaps "chicken bosom" would be more appropriate or at the very least, an alternative... Isa. 40:11 :) - cristalino, Aug 11, 2011

Yes, pechuga de pollo.

Don't feel bad though. Mís amigos will never let me forget the time that I said "peluche de pollo"!
