Latin America Challenge 8

Question

Central America has long been a "bridge" between the continents of North America and South America. Seven countries lie totally within this region. Sometimes the Mexican states Campeche, Chiapas, Tabasco, Quintana Roo and Yucatán are also included as part of Central America.

As a link between two much larger land masses, Central America has very high number of species of plants and animals. In fact, it is considered a biodiversity hotspot, with almost 7% of the world's species in about 0.1% of the earth's surface.

Today's challenge: List the seven countries of Central America.

Don't look up the countries or peak at other answers - see how many you already know! Every reasonable attempt will receive at least one vote.

I remember that the 7 countries are Belize, Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panama

Belize is the only English-speaking country in the region, while Panama was a part of Gran Colombia, a former country situated mostly in South America - Fidalgo, Aug 10, 2011
