No matter where I look, I can't find a satisfactory translation for "puesto" in the following sentence.

La niña lleva un sombrero puesto mientras está viendo la televisión.

I'm pretty sure this sentence says:

The girl is wearing a hat while watching the TV.

The "puesto" is really throwing me off.

Thanks in advance.

llevar puesto = always means wearing

its like....bringing it by having put it on...but that sounds wierd in english, but that is simply how they say wearing it in spanish...always.

¿Vas a traer una chamara? Voy a llevarla puesto.

this might help you: llevar puesto

Puesto = past participle of "poner" (to put)

Llevar algo puesto = lit. to carry something put (to have something [clothes] on)

Quick question though: why do I also run into this sentence:

¿Llevas un casco? What's the difference?
