As an answer to someone telling me for example, how lucky I am, should my response be Sí, soy yo.?

"Sí, soy yo" = "Yes, it is me". - lazarus1907, Aug 7, 2011
Sí, lo soy -> Simplier and common :D jeje although you could only say "Sì", or "Sí, lo sé" :p - Vicente1, Aug 7, 2011

ie: Eres muy afortunado.

There are various possible responses, ie:

Así es / Así soy / Sí, lo soy.

SonrisaDelSol is right about this:

But, I have a question. Isn't "you are lucky" "tienes suerte"? Would that mean you could respond using "tener"?

You can have luck (be lucky) but you can't "have Portueguesenss

I wish you could vote up comments because that is beautiful.

But yeah I think the most commen way to say yes i am would be along the lines of

Sí,, lo/la soy

But you cannot "soy suerte" you can only "tener suerte"

in which case it would be

Sí,tengo suerte or Sí, lo tengo

I would say, "Sí, yo soy", but I'm still a beginner grin

I'm pretty sure you could even say...

"Sí, lo soy"...

"¿Eres Portugués?"

"Sí, lo soy."

But, I have a question. Isn't "you are lucky" "tienes suerte"? Would that mean you could respond to "tienes suerte" using "tener"? (Sí, la tengo)

Hi Sonrisa... You can have luck (be lucky) but you can't "have Portueguesenss"! - Jeremias, Aug 7, 2011
Oh, I know!! I meant use "tener" for responding to "you are lucky". - SonrisaDelSol, Aug 7, 2011
Always "lo" with "ser"; never "la". - lazarus1907, Aug 7, 2011
Thanks! "La" is okay with tener, though, correct? - SonrisaDelSol, Aug 7, 2011
Thanks Sonrisa, I like the tener angle - Yeser007, Aug 7, 2011
