Hondo VS profundo, Alzar VS levantar

Question

Are these direct synonyms? En lo más hondo, En lo más profundo.

Levanta las manos, Alza las manos.

I don't know if this helps or not, but in regard to Levantar and Alzar, levantó is used 227 times in the NBLH version of the Bible. I didn't check each one, but just a cursory glance shows levantar being used to say such things as getting up early in the morning, the people raised up against one another, when he got up to pray, he lifted up his hands, etc, etc. Alzar was used 31 times, and in every case that I looked at, it was something like Jesús alzó sus ojos, Pablo alzó la voz, it was always "raising" their voice or "lifting" their eyes whereas Levantar was always used somehow in the physical act of lifting something or someone.

In the cases you wrote, they are direct synonyms.

hondo = profundo = deep

BUT

alzar = erect, lift rise

levantar = rise lift

BUT BUT, the RAE states that they are the same... :/

In the drae, hondo has 5 definitions while profundo has 14; alzar has 24 while levantar has 10. Some of the defintions are the same, others are not.
