The "not so early" people.
I feel bad for the people who post late on the "word of the day", and "picture of the day". More than not, it's usually the same people who are faithful to these Posts. I know there are plenty of views, but way out of range as compared to the Votes. Let's give those faithful guys and gals more votes. The so called "late posters". Just keep in mind their effort and contributions to SpanishDict.

I would guess that it´s not so much a matter of being late as it is one of time zones and work schedules.
Well you see I am last again , although this one is earlier than usual most of
the post come when I am off to "dreamland" and then later on to bed.I have
noticed that for the next six hours nothing much happens , but then it picks up ,
but I am long gone , Heidi used to give me a real going over for not correcting my
posts until about 14 hours after the event , my late wife used to say something
along those lines too , cant quite remember what it was now. But yes we must
give everyone time to post and be corrected , and please people the guys who
put out these threads everyday deserve each one of you to vote for them , all too
often I see 20 answers and 10 votes for the thread makers , remember it is written,
" Blessed are the Threadmakers for they are the givers of life on SD , they shall
inherit the Spanishdictaholiks and spread corrections and translations across the land " Amen .
OK, I am in agreement with Marshall - it is usually the first people that get all the votes, so it is kind of not fair to the late posters, whose schedules don't allow them to post first....

Picture of the Day: 3AM - 5AM EST
La Palabra del Día: 5AM EST
English Word of the Day: 1PM EST
Sooooooo......what I am going to do is change the time of my post....I am going to change the time of La Palabra del Día to 6PM EST.....that way, starting tomorrow, it will be:
**Picture of the Day: 3AM - 5AM EST
La Palabra del Día: 6PM EST
English Word of the Day: 1PM EST**
Hopefully everyone is ok with this change, and this should spread the daily threads out throughout the day, so that everyone should be able to be one of the first to post on one of the daily threads....
Tell you the truth Marshall, whenever l open those threads and there are more than 16 answers, l feel bad and don't participate most of the times, people don't usually look at the second page, but rather vote for the first or the second post.
The picture of the day is the only thread that I have been one of the first posters on and that hasn't been a whole lot for me. When I am one of the first posters I make it a point to come back and re-visit the thread and I vote up the late posters as well. I enjoy reading everybodys sentences and reading the corrections as well.
I wish more of first posters would re-visit the threads they posted on and actually participate in the thread entirely.
Great thread Marshall. I have noticed the same thing. It really wouldn't be unfair if the first posters revisited the thred and read the thread. 
You're right, Marshall. I have noticed that the people who usually post first or second tend to get many mores votes compared to the later posters.
Click oldest. The first post that comes up will have 11 votes, but the second to last poster will have only 2.
I think these are great ideas. Thanks so much for doing this. I think this will encourage a lot more people to participate. 
Ok, we have come up with an idea on skippi, so let's get this better distributed:
Steph is posting at about 4am/5am
Marshi at about 1pm
Chris is going to post at about 6pm...to give everybody a chance to get to be the first to post
One of those two votes is usually mine, and I really wish at times I could have voted more than once! Instead I'm left to leave a comment.
And whenever I go back to check for corrections, or really till the next "Word of the Day" is put up, I always look at the posts which come after mine and usually vote up a few.
Even when I am going through a thread I am not posting in, I click on that Big Blue Button! It's so easy to just press the mouse button and nothing is lost.
But seriously, I feel it is an excellent idea for people to:
(1) vote whenever they read something which they feel was worth reading; and
(2) return to threads where's you've posted and see what others have had to say and vote for them as well. Who knows, you might find someone has left a comment on your post!
That's very thoughtful. The question too is do people continue to vote after their votes no longer gain them points? Perhaps we could get more people voting by raising the number of points they can obtain in one day. Just my thoughts.

Only joking. Totally agree, and I am probably guilty of this. During the day I'm usually working but have access to the internet for short periods here and there. This time frame tends to coincide with the 'word of the day' posts. Therefore, I usually post early and vote for the some of the other posts too. I will make a genuine effort to re-visit these posts and get voting!

That will certainly give those of us in Europe a better chance. In the UK the new times will be between 8am and 10am, 6pm and 11pm.

Marshall thank you for being aware of this issue. And I am glad that you and Chris are working out a different set of times so all of us can possibly post and vote early.
A propósito, I just visited the not-so-long-ago word of the day "Empeñar" and found that although over a thousand people had looked at the thread, the last post had a big fat zero
I voted it up to "one," but that's exactly what I mean about people not bothering to either just click the dang mouse button; or go back to the post to see what else of interest might be there. 
With "please read this" the (lack of) moderation of thread titles has hit a new low. 
Also, the subject shoots itself in the foot: if you have a life outside of SD you know exactly how much the votes are worth. Sorry, I couldn't resist. Hi, Heidita.
