I go down to the gym about 3 or 4 times a week. It's not really a fitness thing, I just figure that because I drink so much beer and eat all the things you aren't really supposed to (lovely hot curry etc) if I don't give something back to my body, it will pack up on me sooner rather than later! big surprise

Anyway, while there I tend to listen to Spanish on my ipod. Earlier today, there I was on the running machine listening to some common words when I suddenly said out loud "dirección"

The girl on the machine next to me just gave me a sort of confused glance! I took out my earphones and explained I was learning Spanish. I bet she was thinking to herself "oh my god, just my luck to come to the gym and get next to the crazy man"!!! red face

This is so Funny Billy! LOL

l tend to have Spanish conversations with myself in front of the mirror, first my sister thought l was going crazy talking to myself, but then she saw me screaming at myself saying ''No lovely no! no uses el pretérito!!'' she just looked and said ''ok you're talking to yourself, and that's fine and happens to many people, but you're calling yourself Lovely!! now that is crazy! tongue laugh

It was always humorous whenever I was a cashier to say doleres instead of dólares when counting back change. "Here's ten pains to back to you." shut eye Or even worse, when you use a false cognate, like my high school Spanish teacher did. Like saying embarazada instead of tengo vergüneza when saying she was embarassed.

Sadly at my beginner level any time I try to say more than one or two familiar words in a Spanish sentence is embarrassing. Well, not really as I know I'm a beginner and learning every day. Most Spanish speakers are amused but friendly and helpful with their reply.

It's a good thing!
