I have always used the word cream to mean the same thing as lotion, most of the time I call lotion bottle a bottle of cream instead

but locion meaning lotion I dont understand, I saw a sign in Walmart that said Crema for lotion in spanish, whats the difference between cream and lotion? I thought crema meant cream and lotion not locion

"Crema" refers to a substance with certain physical properties, especially its viscosity, regardless of its properties. It can be the fat of the milk, cream, thick soup, or any cleaning or medical product with a thick texture...

"Loción" is a cream or any less viscous product used for the body and the hair, and for medical purposes.

I have seen it this way on my other site and I have also heard it on the radio when listening to a medical program. - foxluv, Aug 6, 2011

I can't think of a situation where it would be wrong, but you can't say "una loción de champiñones" instead of "una crema de champiñones" (mushroom cream).
