trepar/subir
Will someone please compare these two words for me? For example, I know I can say:
El dragón está trepando.
and
El hombre está subiendo los escalones.
So, is it correct if I say:
El perro está trepando del monte?

"Trepar" is used to climb a high place using your hands, feet, claws... whatever it takes. Climbers and plants do that, but you don't use this verb with stairs.
"Subir" means to go up.
Yes, your sentence is correct.
"Trepar" is when an animal or person is climbing an object, while "subir" is more comparable to "to rise" or "to ascend."
So, since I can say:
El hombre está subiendo al muro.
Can I also say:
El hombre está trepando al muro.
??
And, even if the second sentence is correct, will people look at me funny if I say it?
