te gusta - you like him ..... le gustas - he likes you (but really, you are pleasing to him) - Kiwi-Girl, Aug 3, 2011

I think the most important thing to remember is that the verb gustar doesn't really mean to like - it means 'to be pleasing to' so you say: smile

me gusta - to me (me) it is pleasing (gusta) - if you're talking about one thing

or me gustan - to me (me) they are pleasing (gustan) for more than one thing

Or if you want to talk about other people just change the 'me' to

le - to him, her etc

Exactly like disgust in English (notice the similarities between "gustar" and "gust" in "disgust"), except for the dis- makes the meaning of this verb almost the opposite of "gustar".

While "like" is the most natural translation, "gustar" works exactly like "to please" in English. If I like you is because you please me. Use "gustar" like the latter.

Tienes diferentes opciones:

  1. Le gustas - tú le gustas - él gusta de ti.
  2. Te gusta - gustas de él - a ti te gusta.

"le" es un pronombre en tercera persona que sirve tanto en masculino como en femenino.

Saludos.
