por or para
Is it correct to use por when saying something is by someone?...por ejemplo: la cancion es por/para Juanes.

Are you saying the song is written or performed by Juanes?
Typically, in these cases, por is not enough.
La canción fué escrita por Juanes.
La canción fué interpretada por Juanes or Juanes interpreta la canción, etc.
Use ''por'' to say it's written by Juan. 
And use ''para'' to say it's written for Juan!
You have to use "por" for "by", meaning Juanes wrote the song. Para would mean the song was written for Juanes as the recipient.
I would say "por" is correct. Like "la cancion es por Juanes, el libro fué escrito por Paulo Coelho, la obra fué pintada por Botero, etc".
Another thing you might think about, if you are saying it is by (as in created or writen)the artist I believe you could use "de". For example, "de quien es esa canción? es de Maná." That might however indicate ownership than authorship, which is probably true, but perhaps not the intended sentiment.
