When at the hairdressers would you say

capas distintas for different lengths?

I know capas are layers, that's kind of the idea.

Also

no uniformes - not uniform (to describe cutting the hair when it doesn't have to be exactly even on both sides.. a bit messy )

Sí, capas es una palabra muy común en la peluquería.

El corte de pelo no necesita simetría. De hecho, prefiero que no la tenga.
