De pequeño means "as a child". From the context you should be able to tell it is in reference to the past since gustaba is the imperfect form of gustar. Keep in mind that de pequeño must match the noun in gender and number so it will change to de pequeños for ellos and de pequeñas for ellas, etc.
I liked it when i was little
De pequeño me gustaba la playa = When i was little i liked the beach
Keep in mind that de pequeño must match the noun in gender and number so it will change to de pequeños for ellos and de pequeñas for ellas, etc.
That description sound misleading to me. It sounds as if you are referring to an adjective showing concordance to a noun.
de being a prepostion, is followed by a noun. This prepostional phrase is a noun phrase; not an adjective phrase.
el pequeño and la pequeña are nouns. What you must do is use the noun with the correct gender. It is similar to artista. You must choose the noun with the correct gender for the sex of the noun's antecedent. el artista or la artista. It has nothing to do with pequeño matching a noun as when it is serves as adjective.
I'm probably splitting hairs here, and reading something into what you said that isn't actually there.
I would have stated it as:
Keep in mind that the noun, de pequeño, must match its antecedent in gender and number so it will change to de pequeños for ellos and de pequeñas for ellas, etc.
too technical? too picayune?
oooooh haha, I looked at that phrase totally the wrong way =D .
Thanks!!
