Siento mucho lo de ayer.

Without Lo, right, not lo siento mucho lo de ayer (because the lo is before the de, don't want to use two lo's) , not lo siento mucho por lo de ayer or lo siento mucho por ayer, but yes....... de ayer lo siento mucho.

Right?

Yes, this sounds perfectly natural to me. Also, Siento mucho lo que pasó ayer.

de ayer lo siento mucho.

Perhaps "Lo de ayer lo siento mucho".

Wow, good question. I don't know about this "no more than one lo" rule, where would I find out more about it?
