What about sobrecargado de trabajo? Or depending on the sentence you could just use demasiado trabajo or por el exceso de trabajo.

I'm native spanish speaker and i I've hardly ever heard very little times "sobrecargado de trabajo", and have never heard "Sobretrabajado".

It's context dependent, but ,we'd say more often frequently"sobreexplotado" (overexploited). Although this word it's applicable to explotation of natural resources. Can be a good Could that be an option for "overworked"?. Is used with the same sense in English?

Another data idea. We always say "Negrero (derived from Negro)" (Slaver) to the boss, when exploit you are being exploited.
