Listen to Gintar, everyone! A listening excercise: Ordering at the elegant restaurant.
Gintar has taken the time to read and record the script I posted about.

His Spanish is native and perfectly clear, he has captured the personalities of the clients, and overall is a wonderful representation of Mexican Spanish in daily life.

Thank you, Paco! I did not expect such attention . I do not know about "native". As native as you can get being from Miami, I suppose.

Even though you may not be a true Spanish native speaker, you sound like one.
In my opinion, it often seems that native Spanish speakers immersed only in the English language for a long time, begin deforming their natural Spanish speech patterns.
An English learner of Spanish that has been listening to a Spanish native speaker that has been exposed in this way, frequently will think that the pronunciation he is listening to, is correct ( because it is coming from a native). Which is only partially true. What the Spanish learner has been hearing is a deformed pattern that does not have the the spelling, character or color of the true Spanish language.
With this in mind, it well may happen, that when this Spanish learner goes to a Spanish speaking country, and listens to the native speech, he will find that: "..this is not what I learned!... and it does not even sound like it!" and that is true. But the Spanish learner has no way to know this, until he faces the reality of the particular Spanish country where he is. This will make him doubt what he has learned. This doubt, will promote an awful feeling of incompetence, that will cause him to freeze in the moment when he needs to speak.
This is why it is so valuable to a Spanish learner, as to a any learner, to listen to a native speaker with a neutral (or international) pronunciation that is so clear, that everyone -no matter what the Spanish speaking country they are in- will be able to understand and be understood.
There is great merit in a non native Spanish speaker, that possesses a neutral accent, and if this is your case Gintar, you should take pride in your ability to speak well in both languages.

Thank you Paco, this is truly great and the only way to make it easy to find again is to type an answer so it saves it to my personal list. I had one question on the conversation if you don't mind:
The beginning starts with Client 1 saying "Yes, 2 of us." Then the next response right after is "We want a table for 2 people." Is this normal spanish conversation? In English, we would not have said the same thing twice. I would have said the 1st response but not both. Or I would have responded "Yes, a table for 2 please."
Everything else in the conversation was perfecto!
