Do you like Greek mythology? Well, I'm sure that we have to like it, or at least to respect the ancient Greeks because of their great imaginations.... smile So, who is your favorite Greek God? Or Goddess? My favorite is Goddess Artemis. She is my favorite because she is a Goddess of wildlife, animals and moon.

When you talk about mythological deities you don't need to capitalize "god" and "goddess." - StephenTrevor, Jul 30, 2011

What about the story of how Zeus became the ruler of Mount Olympus. And the Horn of Abundance (Cornucopia)?

The story of Prometheus and Pandora?

There are many more...

I recently read "The Odyssey" in school (that included some Greek mythology). I loved it! Athena was very helpful in that story, so she's my favorite. Plus, I like the name "Athena". smile

I suppose it was a coincidence, but I was reading a Disney volume on classical mythology in Spanish when they started showing the remake of "Clash of the Titans" on TV. It helped me to follow the storyline because a lot of the names are different from Spanish to English. (Perseo, Perseus, Heracles, Hercules are similar, but some are completely different)

Silly nitpick: "Heracles" is the Spanish equivalent of "Heracles"; Hercules is the demigod's Roman name, which is "Hércules" in Spanish. - StephenTrevor, Jul 30, 2011

Oh, I forgot to say that very interesting mythological creatures are nymphs (Dryads - nymphs of the wood who lived in trees; Hamadryads - inhabited oak trees; Meliae - lived in ash trees; Naiads - water nymphs who might be found in springs, rivers, lakes, fountains, or brooks; Oreads - lived on mountains and in grottos) , muses and sirens. Maybe they are low ranked beings, but there are a lot amazing stories about them. And one of the most favorite Goddess (after Artemis, of course LOL ) is Nemesis (she was the goddess of indignation against, and retribution for, evil deeds and undeserved good fortune. She was a personification of the resentment aroused in men by those who commited crimes with apparent impunity, or who had inordinate good fortune). smile
