Well, it depends. if you take classes, a long, long, long long time. if you go and live for a few months in lets say, spain, then you will learn very quickly because you have no choice. but just like english, you learn new words all the time.

There is a story about the languages: If you study for ten years, you will learn german, if you do for twenty years , you learn french, if you study for a lifetime you never will learn english. I don't know into which category can we classify the spanish language?
