the similies ''as'' and ''like'' in spanish

When I write poems,I use similes occassionally,like and as.For example,as white as snow. he runs like a cheetah.How can I do this in spanish?

As... as.... = tan... como...
like ... = como ...

El corre como un chita. Como may be used in place of like or as.

Maybe things have changed, but "cheetah" in Spanish used to be "guepardo". The only "chita" I know is the monkey of Tarzan. - lazarus1907, Jul 29, 2011
"Cheetah" is a borrowing from Hindi, while "guepardo" is a borrowing from French, ultimately from Latin gapardus. - lazarus1907, Jul 29, 2011
