Panamá for immersion program?

While doing research for another immersion school to go to this coming winter I found this: http://www.hablayapanama.com/

It seems to me like a good program and they say it's quite safe.

What do you think? Does anyone have experience with this program, or others in Panamá?

I went to Panama a couple of years ago on vacation Elaine and loved it. English is spoken widely on the resorts but that's about it. It is understood by many because of US involvement in the past but I think it is somewhat limited. I'm sure you would not regret it, and oh yes, the canal is fantastic!

hmm, I would prefer a program somewhere English isn't spoken widely - elainepnj, Jul 29, 2011

Hmm, if not Panama, where? I loved the program I attended in Mérida México. I'm tempted to go back there, but I think I should experience other places. Another place under consideration is Oaxaca.

Safe and not safe can found anywhere in the world. If you plan to spend time in Panamá, then this sounds like a good option. If not, it still could be a good choice, but just be aware that Panamanians tend to "eat their Ss" on the ends of words, which is common in many Carribean countries.
