How would you ask, very politely and formally, for a Spanish speaker to speak more slowly because you are having trouble understanding?

Here are a couple ways you can say it...

¿Podría hablar más lentamente, por favor?

¿Podría hablar (un poco) más despacio, por favor?

Thanks. This makes sense. But I am 26 and sometimes I may need to ask someone a lot older than me to slow down. The "command" form of "hable mas despacio" feels a bit authoritative to me. Could I say, "Si puede hablar mas despacio, por favor."? - Jenita7, Jul 29, 2011
you could Jenita....but it sounds 'bastante formal' it sounds like textbook spanish not very conversational...i would just say habla then and not hable if you dont want it sound like a command - toothpastechica, Jul 29, 2011
