See ya chula

Chula is not a word that translates well, and is probably negative or postive depending in which subculture you associate with. a Chulo is typically a 'pimp' or a 'gangsta', a a chula would be the feminine form, So if they think your "gangsta" or "street" they/you may see if as a compliment. I know as hip-hop and reggaeton have become more popular in the US and Central America terms like that are losing some of thier negative connatations and becoming "cool" with younger people.

"In a while crocodile" It seems to me to be "street talk". What country are you in? To me, having picked up Spanish in Spain there are some negative connotations to chula. Maybe it's ok where you are.

. I think Un chulo is the kind of macho type who swaggers, over-emphasises his behaviour, is very likely pretty stupid. For example, it can be used about a guy to suggest he is a pimp.

.
Could native Spanish speakers help me here as now, I'm unsure as to how the term is normally used? Maybe I've got the "wrong end of the stick" ( now there is an idomatic phrase) grin Thanks

So far as I know from my time in Mexico, chula as an adjective applied to a woman is entirely complimentary, meaning pretty. Un chulo is a different story, a pimp. Una chula? I'm not sure...
