No, you don't use articles before nouns all the time, although articles are used in many situations where in English they are omitted. The rules of usage of articles are one of the most complex and least understood aspects of grammar, but since there are so many coincidences of usage between English and Spanish, it is best to learn only the differences. Unfortunately, there are still too many for a short post, so please refer to the reference section, and come back if you have a more specific question.
