Nothing is sadder to me than a person who has true talent and they flush it down the toilet with addictions, then they die young. There are so many people who would give both hands to have a tenth of the talent she had, and had disdain for it and threw it away. Kurt Cobain was the same way.

Yes so sorry to hear about the death of Amy Winehouse, like others before her fame didn't bring the poor girl happiness she always seemed to have her finger on the self destruct button.

Well, I guess because she is talented and famous that everyone has kind words. I guess I'm indifferent on this one. I know lots of talented people and who were not famous that lost their lives to something other than drugs, and will never be talked about in the news or on a forum.

Sad. It made me think of this song, If There's a Rock and Roll Heaven.

As the lyrics say, "If there's a Rock and Roll heaven, then I bet they've got a hell of a band."

Her short and tragic life struggling with addiction reminds me of what Janice Joplin went through.

Yes I think Janice was the same age as well, 27. - kenwilliams, Jul 23, 2011
What a great choice, who's singing that? - lagartijaverde, Jul 24, 2011
I don't know. - JoyceM, Jul 24, 2011

I'm sorry to see her gone too, and more than once I've heard her compared to Billie Holiday, who also had demons in the form of drugs. Amy was a major talent who gave the music industry refreshing (though dark) originality and I'm sorry she didn't stick around longer.

My fav song was Back to Black

I found this article gave a very sad but understandable perspective to the price of fame. In particular, the image of her going to her local pub but no longer free, accompanied by bodyguards, alienated. link text
