We have a previous thread on governmental "checks and balances", but I don't see an answer given.

Hay dos maneras en de que puedes decirlo. Literalmente, traduce a "pesos y contrapeso," pero pienso que hallares que "separación (o división) de poderes" tiene el sentido mejor.
