By your short, choppy sentence, I am guessing this is for a sign, so I would write "Mantenga cerrada la verja (metal fence) / la puerta (wood fence) .................."

Just my attempt at another this one:
Por favor mantenga las puertas cerradas...perros en el patio trasero (AmL traspatio) =o= patio del fondo
Assuming the canines are kept in a backyard specifically....
