Para Redactar: Check my response Use of Subjunctive

Question

Exercise states that "You went to a festival with a friend and found it to interesting and enjoyable. You know that your tow would benefit from having a festival as well. Write an 8-9 sentence letter to one of them with advice about how to host a really good music festival with a strong cultural element. Be sure to use 9 different verbs and phrases to express needs, wishes, preferences (Subjunctive) , etc.

This is what I wrote. What do you think about it?

Fue a un festival con mis amigos. Creo que deberíamos tener un festival en esta ciudad. Necesitamos instrumentos musicales como la mandolina y tamborines. Es importante que invitemos la gente del ciudad. Dudo que conozcas Gian Marco. Es necessario que tengamos un guitarrista. Quiero que pidas la comida. Prefiero que haya decoraciones con muchos colores. Me recomiendo que llames algunos bailarines. Ojalá que el festival sea muy divertido.

It all looks good to me, with the exception of a few minor errors.

Fui a un festival con mis amigos. Creo que deberíamos tener un festival en esta ciudad. Necesitamos instrumentos musicales como la mandolina y tamborines. Es importante que invitemos a la gente de la ciudad. Dudo que conozcas a Gian Marco. Es necessario que tengamos una guitarrista. Quiero que pidas la comida. Prefiero que haya decoraciones con muchos colores. Recomiendo que llames a algunos bailarines. Ojalá que el festival sea muy divertido.

1. "Fui a un festival..." not "fue." Remember that if "I" is included in the action, it's "fui" or "fuimos."
2. "Es importante que invitemos a la gente de la ciudad." Don't forget the personal "a" here.
3. "...que conozcas a Gian..." Same reason as number 2.
4. "Me recomiendo" should be simply "recomiendo." Google shows many more results with "recomiendo" without "me," and a lot of the ones with "me," don't really make sense.
5. "...que llames a algunos bailarines."

Overall though, a very good job.

Yay!!! Not bad at all. That first one was silly altogether. I hate it when I make dumb mistakes like that. Same with the use of "a" sometimes I overthink things and mess it up altogether. Thanks so much!! - Sylvo, Jul 17, 2011
