Crazy inventions
So Heidi and I were talking, and we started talking things that don't make a lot of sense.
I brought up the fact that drive-up ATM's in the US all have braille on the keypads, which I think it is a great thing to accomodate the disabled, however it does concern me that we may have blind people driving to the bank.

Apparently, unbeknownst to me, this is not the case in Spain, meaning that they do not have braille on the drive-up ATM machines (I guess that drive-up anything is rare in Spain...)
So I had to do some research about why there is braille on these keypads, and I found a lot of articles about this...one of which that seemed to make sense:
Anyway, we started talking about opening a thread to see what other strange inventions anyone can think of, that are just accepted, even though they may make no sense....pictures are welcome too!!

This invention is still in its prototype stage yet aims to utilise defunct products and apply a different purpose to them. The Corona-Matic Waffle Maker makes waffles in the shape of computer keyboards. The gadget transforms an old style of writing equipment into a kitchen appliance which can cook up a few tasty treats.
The inventor of the Corono-Matic is Chris Dimino, which was a group project at the School of Visual Arts. The task set for the students was to modify an exiting useless product into something which could be used nowadays, revolutionising the product and its use. The invention is yet to enter the mainstream market, but we think it will only be a matter of time, and also expect some other wild transformations from the young inventor also.
This subject always reminds me of the "notorious" Rube Goldberg (his very name now an entry in American English dictionaries)... here is an example of one:

Aparato para exprimir pasta dentífrica...¡sin dificultad!

Well l do understand that some people really need this microphone .....

Chopsticks fan???
l suppose it's very hard to wait for a few seconds till the food cools down?

Hmmm reading seems to be hard these days!

The Self-Turning Spaghetti Fork
Now tell me this is not ridiculous!!!
If you have a cold, this invention might come in handy, don't you think?
Si tienes resfriado, esta invención pueda ser muy cómoda, ¿no?

A device to express a dog's emotions from analyzing his voice.
Un aparato para expresar emociones de un perro de analizar su voz.

Apparently this hat is designed to allow the train traveler to take a nap without having their head flop forward!
I suppose this is for anyone who likes to show the rest of the world the status of their waistline. As if we couldn't guess already. ![]()
I am not a math genius by any means, but I'm hoping this is metric. Anyone in the U.S. would die if this were their number!!! And I mean that literally and figuratively. ![]()

Anti-flatulence underwear Patent date: Unknown
Inventor: Buck Weimer (U.S.)
Description: Under-Ease
airtight underwear with a replaceable charcoal filter that removes bad-smelling gases before they escape.
As the slogan says: Wear them for the ones you love.

Some computer shops here sell this item. You're supposed to attach it to your computer and when you do, it lights up. Some air also gets pumped into it so that air bubbles come up to agitate the water and make the plastic fishes pathetically move about. Maybe in the first few seconds the idea may work if you're a Finding Nemo fan, but I wonder how much amusement one can really derive out of this. Notice the size of the aquarium in relation to the USB plug. Yes, it is that small.

I went to visit a friend the other day and he has one of these crazy things. It made funny noises and looked like a cat toy to me. It is an irobot vacuum cleaner. He said a battery charge lasts for a couple of hours. I watched it a bit. To me it didn't seem that intelligent, bumping into walls and then changing course. He tells me it has several different programs that run different patterns. And somehow it calculates if it has covered the whole room. I watched it follow along a wall and I am not so sure that it actually does as well as manually vacuuming. Anyway, if you have not seen one, you may want to check this out. I found a video:

We all know what a bathtub is for but what's up with this design? jeje
