Why can't I look at certain questions?

I've noticed that every once in a while there will be a question, which is not shown in the typical bold font, that cannot be clicked on. Is there some reason I am unable to open certain questions like this?

There is a bug in this site that produces this effect for MS Internet Explorer when the first part of the message body contains any quote characters -> "

Until this is fixed (and nobody knows when that might be), you can get better access using Firefox or Chrome browsers.

For now, you can get to a thread of that type by clicking on the author's profile (at the avatar) and see a working link in the author's recent activity list.
