Lt. Etienne

I have a Sabre Sword that I believe states "Lt. Etienne Moars 1841. Really would like to know what it means in english.

[Old French blades were] usually marked on the back-edge (opposite the cutting edge) with the arsenal, month, and year of manufacture; this is done in engraved cursive fashion and will appear something like, "Mre d' Armes de Chatellerault Janvier 1866" or perhaps "Mre d' Armes de St. Etienne 8bre [October] 1868". So your blade probably reads "St. Etienne Mars 1841" meaning that it was manufactured at the St. Etienne arsenal in March 1841.

That looks like a name. Names for the most part are the same in Spanish and English.
