twitter + spanishdict
Heya, I am trying to earn the twitter badge and I started following spanishdict a couple of days ago but it won't recognise me. To verify I typed in my name (to_thesky) and with the @ (@to_thesky) but neither of them are verifying me.
Am I doing it wrong? Has anyone else had the same problem?
Many thanks!

Can we break it down a little? Are you (your email address) currently verified on SpanishDict?
Do you have a valid (verified) Twitter account already?
Is (to_thesky) your name on your Twitter account or your email name that you verified with SpanishDict? Are they the same on both?
Did you use the Bookmark link to connect Twitter to SpanishDict? When the window came up asking you to sign in did you use your Twitter or SpanishDict credentials (username or email address)?
I can't tell you which is needed since my email, SpanishDict and Twitter usernames are all the same.
I take it that you did not receive the URL link to share on Twittter?
I started following spanishdict a couple of days ago but it won't recognise me.
Was does that mean? If it does not recognize you (Twitter or SpanishDict?) how are you following anything?
Are you getting tweets like the Word of the day?

tweet to this thread on Twitter

I have verified my e-mail addresses on both sites. I can use the chat room on SD.
My problem is if I go to qualify for the badge, I visit http://www.spanishdict.com/users/badges/twilingual then click the link 'verify here'
and I have tried the following: -to_thesky -@to_thesky -(my e-mail) -loupou (my SD username)
and I get the following message for them all:
Sorry, your username could not be verified. Make sure you're following @spanishdict and try again later.
I'll ask again. Has the email address that you are using (both on Twitter and SpanishDict) been verified on both sites? Have you verified your email addresses by replying to messages sent by both Twitter and SpanishDict? Did both sites confirm that your email address is verified with that site.
On SpanishDict, for example you can access the site and perform most of its functions even if your email address has not be verified. (you are a guest; not a member)
If you need to find out if your SpanishDict email address has been verified try using the text Chat room. I recall reading in a thread that if your email address has not been verified that you are not allowed access to the text Chat room.
If your tweet of this thread is showing up on Twitter you must have successfully linked SpanishDict and Twitter. I'm not sure what you mean when you say that it is still not verifiying you. What would that process have to do with verifying your email address?
Verification is just a matter of matter of checking that the email address that you provided is a valid account (that the site can successfully send you email). An email account can be created under any false name. It does nothing to comfirm who you actually are. At best, it links your IP address to the account on the respective web site.
When you link SpanishDict to Twitter and it asks you to provide an email address all that it is doing is trying to link the proper SpanishDict account with the proper Twitter account. If I am JohnQPublic on SpanishDict and MaryJanePublic on Twitter it will be able to link my JohnQPublic account on SpanishDict to the Twitter account MaryJane Public. That has nothing to do with verifying the email address that I provided for either the MaryJanePublic account on Twitter nor the JohnQPublic account that I created on Spanish Dict. Those two accounts should have already had their email accounts verified. They do not have to be the same email account. I may have verified my Gmail account with my JohnQPublic SpanishDict account and I may have verified my Hotmail account with my MaryJanePublic Twitter account. Nor do they have to have the same IP address. My Gmail account (MaryJanePublic) may be my work email while my Hotmail (JohnQPublic) account may be my home email address (different IP addresses).
We seem to be discussing "apples and oranges". Linking SpanishDict to Twitter has little to do with "verification of email addresses". My best guess would be that your SpanishDict account has never had the associated email account verified so when you try to link to Twitter, it is telling you that you are trying to link an unverified SpanishDict account to a Twitter account, but it seems to be allowing you to do it. Doing so will not verify your email account on either site.
still not working =/
Well I have made the e-mails the same. And on http://www.spanishdict.com/pages/twitter my tweet of this thread shows up but it is still not verifying me! =S I have put in my e-mail address (SD and twitter), my spanishdict username, and my twitter usename but none of them are verifying still =/
Im not too sure if my e-mail addresses are the same. But I have tweeted this page link... I will check the e-mails now
