You would usually say el gusto es mio = the pleasure is mine in this kind of context:where two people are meeting for the first time:
Juan: ''Encantado de conocerle''
María:'' Igualmente'' o ''El gusto es mio''
You could also say to a friend, in a different context: ''Fue un placer charlar contigo''
= ''It was a pleasure to chat with you'' to which the friend might respond:
''Es mi placer'' o ''El gusto es mio'' = It's my pleasure or the pleasure is mine.
I tend to favour the first one: ''Es mi placer'' or even ''Fue un placer'' = It was a pleasure
I have seen native Spanish speaking people use this expression in chatrooms but the more common response is ''igualmente ''o es mi placer'' which I have heard much more often in conversations in Spain and both on and off the internet by Spanish natives.
I hope this helps ![]()
El gusto es mío = The pleasure is mine
Fue un placer = It was a pleasure
If someone says "mucho gusto", you can also respond "Igualmente"
