How would you say "a holiday" ?
Would a holiday be unas vacaciones, or un vacacion?

In Mexico "asueto" is a word typically used to describe a short period of free time that is given or taken to rest, or to allow people to commemorate or celebrate something.
It can be applied to speak about a day off: "día de asueto" or several : "días de asueto", or even some free hours: "horas de asueto".
"Vacación" is usually designated as a longer period of time, away from work, school or daily life.
Singular: la vacación
Plural: las vacaciones
Interestingly, we tend (in Mexico) to use "las vacaciones" instead of "la vacación".
Example: "Disfrutamos las vacaciones". "Tendré un mes de vacaciones". "Merezco unas vacaciones".
A holiday ....... un día festivo (Christmas day, New year´s day, etc)
On holiday / vacation ......... estar de vacaciones
I usually go with the plural form "vacaciones".
By the way, "un vacación" is feminine. So, if it were to be used, it would have to be "una vacación".
