"a que horas sales al pan"

Question

I haven't a clue what they mean by this... i've seen it several times when people are i guess flirting with eachother (mamacita! a que horas sales al pan)? and i also seen it written on the back of a van that was decorated with marijuana leaves.. totally lost??

In old-school atavistic Mexico, probably one of the few chances a decent demoiselle would have to an encounter with her lover would be while performing her daily duty of getting fresh bread for dinner (particularly true if she worked as a maid).

Nowadays, the expression delivers metaphorically the same message: a prearranged, brief and furtive romantic encounter (the best kind). ]

OK, in Chile most everybody goes to buy bread three times a day. More or less around 6am - 12pm - 6pm this way we always eat fresh bread.

Obviously the person going to buy bread goes alone.

It is another way to say "You are pretty!"

In this forum someone asked how do you express "a que hora sales por el pan" in English, which in mexico is used when you want to find a woman alone to talk with her.

The reply was "You might try something like "When can I see you alone?" Also, "When are you free to talk?" or something similar would work in this context.

Here in Mexico it has a rather sensual connotation, Papacito or Mamacita when are going out for bread . But really meaning when can we " get together baby"
