Tener el corazón muy chico

Context: Talking to Michelle

Yo: Me gustaría hablar contigo sobre Elena.

Michelle: ¿Conmigo?

Yo: Si, .... pero aún no estoy segura.

Michelle: Ah, ¿sí? ¿Y qué quieres decirme sobre Elena?

Yo: Bah.... déjalo. Tienes un corazón muy chico.

Well, this is a challenge for Spanish learners. No Spanish speakers, please.

Good luck!.

Well, sometimes it has to do with age, but not always. - nila45, Jul 9, 2011
I don't mean age, I mean attitude, as in, there's no fool like an old fool ;-) - lagartijaverde, Jul 9, 2011
I can say that you have a silly attitude but what I mean is that I must beat the bush if I don't want to hurt your feelings. - nila45, Jul 9, 2011

I would go with a young heart, like an inexperienced heart.

When I say "tienes el corazón muy chico", actually I am not talking about lack of experience. But it has to do a lot with feelings and the way of seeing the things of life. - nila45, Jul 9, 2011

So does "chico" mean sensitive? I didn't know that.

It's an idiom probably, which you wouldn't translate word for word. - BellaMargarita, Jul 9, 2011

One more clue:

I have to beat the bush because you are too.... and I don't want to hurt your feelings. You could get angry or react in many ways. You are the type of person who perceives the things in such a way that you suffer a lot.

Me: I would like to talk with you about Elena.

Michelle: With me?

Me: Yes, but I'm still not safe sure.

Michelle: Oh, yeah? And what do you want to tell me about Elena?

Me: Agh, forget it. You have a very small heart.

How did I do? grin

Great idea, Nila. Thank you.

So-so. It doesn't have anything to do with the size of her heart. - nila45, Jul 9, 2011
estar segura is to be sure. - BellaMargarita, Jul 9, 2011
