Te soné VS Soné contigo

I would never say Te soné but this song uses it, artistic license? It's not technically correct is it? Or is it as ok as "Quiero hablarte" is to "Quiero hablar contigo". (correct enough to use in daily speech ex.)
Todo el tiempo estoy pensando en ti,
OR is it SO artistic, that he is really meaning, I dreamed you, as in, I dreamed you because this, this way of feeling wasn't real, and therefore you weren't real, I dreamed you, not I dreamed about you?
