I Enjoy discovering words that make speech more colorful and fun.

"Gorronear" is just such a word.

In México we use this word only in a familiar and friendly environment and as I asked around about it it is always used in a lighthearted way.

This little word is also a good challenge for those learning to roll our " RRRS"

¡ Vamos a gorronear algunas cervezas a la casa de Chuy!

Check the word and post a phrase or a sentence using it.

Post it in English as well please

In the SD dictionary it seems true but the infinitive i know it as "gorronear" - pacofinkler, Jul 8, 2011
It's like checar vs chequear. There're 2 endings for 1 word :) - bomberapolaca, Jul 9, 2011

Permíteme gorronear la cena esta noche porque mi esposa está en la casa de su madre.

Allow me to scrounge dinner tonight because my wife is at her mother's house.

Should this be Permíteme gorronearse ... ? I'm not only scrounging, I'm scrounging it off of you...

You have two verbs Pesta, and the first is conjugated, therefore the second must be pure infinitive. (according to what I have learned) - pacofinkler, Jul 8, 2011
Come for dinner Pesta.. Guisado de res hoy - pacofinkler, Jul 9, 2011

Many years ago, when I was a smoker, I always just smoked cigarettes that I was scrounging from my friends. Because of that, it was eventually easy to stop -- or not to have any friends.

Hace muchos años, cuando fuí fumador, siempre fumé solo los cigarrillos que gorroneaba de mis amigos. Por eso, finalmente, fue fácil a parar -- o no tener ningún amigos.

(This is probably way too fraught with variables for my tender abilities, but it is my main scrounging story and not being very inventive, it's all I can think of. Favor de Mejorar para mi, por favor.)

Hay gente que sabe como gorronearte el internet, entonces debes tener cuidado porque te puede robar tu Número de Identificación Personal (NIP) de Banca Personal Internet.

There are people who know how to 'borrow' your Internet, so you should be careful because they can steal your Personal Internet Bank Identification Number (PIN).

In English we wouldn't say 'scrounge' here, I think, but does it have the right feel for gorronear, Paco?

I think it is a bit of a stretch in this case Galsally, Remember we use Gorronear in a lighthearded humorous way. - pacofinkler, Jul 12, 2011
'Gorronear Internet/Wifi' gets a good few Google hits though, so maybe it's regional? - galsally, Jul 13, 2011

¡Vacilo en gastar dinero por los libros para escuela, pero yo siempre gorroneo suficiente dinero por los cocteles!

I hesitate spending money on textbooks, but I always scrounge enough for cocktails!

I am not too sure about my use of "por" and "para" though...

I think this is better, and I moved the upside-down exclamation mark:

Vacilo en gastar dinero para los libros de la escuela, ¡pero siempre gorroneo suficiente dinero por los cocteles!

I would say : vacilo en gastar dinero, para los libros de la escuela...,( and i would omit "yo") maybe a native speaker could refine it. - pacofinkler, Jul 8, 2011
"por los cócteles" (with accent) = "because of the cocktails". The preposition "para" indicates the ultimate destination. - lazarus1907, Jul 9, 2011
