using the small numeral keys on the right of your key board with NumLock on.

some are also underneath the "Answer this Question" box

I have the list of symbols as a Word Document, the shortcut is easy to click. I can then either use Alt + number or copy and paste. That is how I put the list in the answer box

Check out this downloadable program.

It allows you to use the "Windows" key to include accents like you would use the "Shift" key to capitalize.
