Hi,

I understand perfectly the difference between estaba and era, but since having learnt those two, I'm having a little difficulty understand wehre fue now fits in and the differences?

Can anyone please clarify exactly what fue is?

many thanks

Estaba and era are in the imperfect tense. "Fue" is the preterite.

Estaba - yo form & él/ella/usted form of imperfect - verb: "estar"

Ella estaba corriendo cuando llegué. He was running when I arrived.

Era - yo form & él/ella/usted form imperfect - verb: "ser"

Cuando era niña, era muy desobediente. As a child, I was very disobedient.

Fue - él/ella/usted form preterite - verb: Ser and ir

Ella fue una estudiante el año pasado. She was a student last year.

Usted fue a la tiendo ayer. You went to the store yesterday.
