(Ella) está sosteniendo las flores, o (Ella) sostiene las flores.

Is this the most common way of saying this? I would prefer to say:

(Ella) está sujetando flores.

Están parando, o están a pie.

To me, "están parando" means "they are stopping". "Se están parando" means "they are (in the process of) standing. "Están paradas" means "they (all females) are (currently) standing."

Also, I think "están de pie" means "they are standing" and "a pie" means "on foot", as in "they are walking".

I agree with all of your comments except "Sujetar." This is almost like supporting something that requires great strength, which I doubt holding flowers does - 005faa61, Jul 7, 2011
It is more common to say aggarar for hold. - eltennis97, Jul 7, 2011
"Agarrar" is to take hold of or to grab - 005faa61, Jul 7, 2011
Interesting. I use sujetar for holding anything. "Sujétame esto, por favor" = "Hold this for me, please" - gintar77, Jul 7, 2011
Also "aguantar". - gintar77, Jul 7, 2011

(Ella) está sosteniendo las flores, o (Ella) sostiene las flores.

Están parando, o están a pie. This is gender neutral.
