Hotels in Mexico offer "cabalgatas" meaning a group ride on horseback in the local surroundings. They can last for a short time to quite a long ride. - Agora, Jul 5, 2011

As far as I know, the word "cabalgata" has two meanings: A parade of people riding horses (as in a festival), but also a group or reunion of riders which may not necessarily have to be in a parade (like the cowboys leaving the stable and riding together to a certain point and then dispersing to go out to their days work on horseback).

Example in Spanish:

Vaqueros: iremos en cabalgata hasta el abrevadero y allí nos separaremos.

(In this case it is not used with the meaning of a parade)

It is a parade like a carnival and one such parade in Spain is La cabalgata de los reyes Magos, the three kings parade.
